Asset

  Business accounting term for anything owned by an individual, a business, or a financial institution which has commercial or exchange value. Assets may consist of specific property or claims against others, in contrast to obligations due to others.
  Future benefit or potential service, recognised in accounting only when a transaction has occurred. It may be tangible or intangible, short-term (current) or long-term (non current).
